Experts are able to know about certain material such as the chess pieces that were set up in a certain way the chess experts were able to figure out where each of the pieces were to go. The novices though did not have any idea, so during the best they failed multiple times until they figured out were the pieces where to go exactly. Though when a new pieces were put in different places the experts struggled like the novices did before them. What it means to be an expert is that you have more of a knowledge of something than someone else does. This though can not change anything if the knowledge is different than how they are used to, which then turns them into novices themselves. So, regardless experts are not as different as novices in certain materials.
